Debs Paproska Cole

As a professional fine artist based in the Cotswolds, Debs Paproska Cole is always looking for the next opportunity to translate life into art. Enthused and influenced by sculptors such as Rodin, Michelangelo and Donatello, Debs fell in love with the artwork of the Renaissance period, turning her back on the conceptual art of the post-modern movement she studied at university.

Working as a figurative artist since she left management consultancy in 2014, she has immersed herself in sculpting faces and figures, continually developing her understanding and knowledge of the human form.  Through a meticulous approach to sculpting real people, she’s made a strong and positive impression on the artworld.

Debs’ work falls mainly into the traditional category but recently she has been experimenting with expressive figures, exploring emotional and aesthetic concepts in terms of how individual works of art are interpreted and evaluated.  Her former background in behavioural psychology and human interaction currently influences the expression she brings to her work.  Her recent pieces ‘Solemnity’ and ‘What if?’ open a dialogue between the observer and artwork, an internal discourse that remains unspoken yet emotive.  She plans to develop this theme further in the coming years.

Debs is a founder member of Cotswold Sculptors Association and member of the Oxford Sculptors Group
