Zoë Woolley

Zoë Woolley is a figurative sculptor born and raised in the countryside south of Bristol.  She explores how our life experiences shape our physical selves.

Zoë earned her Masters Degree in Fine Art at the New York Academy of Art in 2013 and her Bachelors of Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in 2005. She trained in metalwork, ceramics and massage whilst living and working in London before moving to America in 2011.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has received awards and scholarships such as The Prince of Wales Scholarship, The Edward Hoffman Prize, and the NYAA Merit Award honouring Zoë with a residency in Carrara, Italy.

Zoë’s work celebrates human form. She investigates the dichotomy of held traumas or memories with the passage of movement between or about a figure with what she describes as helical energy; flowing spirals transferring energy. She works with models to create the realism held in her work.

She is currently living and working in Bath and teaches life sculpture at Bath Artists’ Studios.
