Jan Bruce

Jan is an internationally selling British sculptor whose award-winning work has been featured on BBC television (Make It At Market, Series 3, Episode 11) and exhibited in an increasing number of galleries, sculpture parks, and public exhibitions.

He began stone-carving at the age of 14, drawn to the tactile, grounding nature of the material. His passion led him to study sculpture at degree level, where he refined his skills and began to develop a strong artistic voice. In his early career, Jan produced a body of work that was both technically accomplished and emotionally resonant. However, life took him in another direction for a time, and he stepped away from the studio. Now, years later, he has returned to sculpture with renewed energy and purpose.

For Jan, sculpting is more than a practice — it is a vital form of expression. He describes working with stone as something instinctive, almost like breathing, offering him a way to communicate feelings and ideas that words cannot fully capture.

Over the years, Jan has explored a range of techniques and styles, gradually evolving toward a sculptural language that is uniquely his own. His recent work centres on figurative themes, often balancing representation with elements of semi-abstraction and flowing, geometric design. Each piece is shaped by emotion, driven by a desire to convey something universal. Through his work, Jan aims to create a quiet, powerful connection — one that invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and feel something deeply human.
