Sorrow in Bath stone by Caroline Summerfield

Caroline Summerfield

I studied sculpture at The Art Academy London, the London Atelier for Representational Art and at Park Walk Studios (part of Kensington and Chelsea College), where I was awarded distinction for my professional diploma in sculpture.

My work has been exhibited widely in London and elsewhere and is in various private collections, including those of Trustees of the Contemporary Art Society.

I specialise in creating highly finished indoor stone sculptures, inspired by the human form, birth and motherhood. When I carve stone I am very conscious of our responses to spatial awareness which is why I hand polish my stone sculptures. This heightens the contours and shadows and creates tactile patinas.

Most recently,  I have created limited edition fine art prints related to my sculptures. I have been a featured artist in the BBC 2 television series Show Me The Monet and my work has been featured in Skandia Magazine for the Memory Collective London Show, Global News Network. I am a founder member of The Memory Collective.
