Maxine Farmer
Maxine Farmer is a British sculptor whose work is held in collections in the UK, Europe, and the USA. ‘The Reader’ was selected in 2024 by the prestigious Royal Society of Artists for its annual exhibition in the Mall, London. Earlier in her career, Maxine was shortlisted for the International Emerging Artists Awards for three consecutive years and in 2024, was also shortlisted for the Professional Artist of the Year Awards.
Maxine’s process is to remove extraneous detail so that the raw energy and emotion within each piece are clearly captured. Those ephemeral moments: a shrug of a shoulder, a twist of a neck…all tell us about each other than words or distracting details. Primarily a figurative sculpture, Maxine’s portfolio covers indoor and outdoor sculptures, large and small, in stone, cold cast bronze, foundry bronze, plaster, clay, and mixed media.
Maxine has studied at St Martin’s, the V&A, and Tate Britain in London, with (and collaborated with) Beatrice Hoffman, and is a qualified bas relief artist, via the Elite Artistry Academy. Maxine is also featured by the Cotswold Sculpture Park, the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden, and Saatchi Art. Multiple sculptures by Maxine were sold by Marlow’s Hayden Gallery in 2024.
