Liv O'Hanlon

Most of the work I make is figurative but occasionally I break out into abstraction. Largely, though, I try to satisfy my abiding interest in being human: relationships, feelings, gestures and postures, the physical expressions that the body uses to reveal, purposefully or not, what’s going on deep down. I keep looking in order, hopefully, to see.  The attempts at abstraction are, for me, all about enjoying various materials, experimenting, and turning off the disciplinarian eye. Simply put: I’m playing.

My art life started nearly two decades ago when I enrolled on the first of several life sculpture courses with the renowned sculptor Suki Erland, of Pilton in Somerset. Later on I took an art foundation course at Bath College and followed that with several years tuition with Sue Larner at Bath Sculpture School. Only recently have I thrown other ventures aside to concentrate full-time on trying my best to make some art.

I was selected to exhibit at: Society of Portrait Sculptors 60th anniversary international exhibition at The Guards Chapel, Chelsea, London SW1 I have also exhibited at: Black Swan Arts, Frome; Frome Open Art Trail; Walcot Chapel, Bath; Bath Sculpture Group, Roper Gallery, Bath; 44AD, Bath; Frome Arts Week.
