Ewan Preston
I am a multi creative with a strong focus in fine art using pen and ink and most recently have been drawn to working with clay and in particular sculpting. My work has always been driven by my natural creative ability as an artist and fuelled by a vivid imagination and pictorial thinking that is increasingly drawn to the magic and wonder of the natural world. In my most recent collection of fine art I have explored the delicate synergy between flora and fauna in a more magical way with an increasing interest in combining metaphors and symbiotic relationships – as a way of bringing ideas into physical form through me as a maker and with clay as my material. I only started sculpture and hand building a year ago and have been on a steep learning curve but already have become fully immersed in this medium and am already exploring ways to integrate the skills from my fine art into the work I am creating with clay. I am part of the Pottery Collective in Cheltenham and have found spending time with other potters inspiring and invaluable and this also provides me with studio space to further develop my imaginative fluency and work.”
