I started my career in the 1960’s as a designer in the carpet industry. I eventually went on to study fine art and sculpture. Initially producing mainly figurative pieces in different media, then over the course of some years have begun to explore more abstract forms. The great variety and textures of stone have given me an appreciation of the qualities, depths and sensuality it can bring to a work and I particularly like working on Alabaster with its wonderful translucency and tactility. Figurative or abstract, my working methods evolve from careful observation, and slowly drawing out from the stone a form which I then produce as a maquette before working on the main piece. I have exhibited in SWA, RBSA, Art for Animals and various other venues across the country.
